Kingdom Proclamation Hymn
*Especially for use on June 18, after the reading of BT 137:8.1-18
On that Sabbath day, so long ago,
Jesus stood in the synagogue to bestow
Upon the hearts of all who’d hear,
The message of love, so pure and clear.
Chorus
As Jesus laid down his tools to rise,
And spoke of the kingdom beyond the skies,
He called to all, both far and near,
To enter the kingdom without fear.
Chorus
Not with swords and armies shall it come,
But with hearts transformed, one by one.
For in the kingdom of our Father’s love,
All are welcome, below and above.
Chorus
His words astonished, his disciples marveled,
As the truth of his message gently unraveled.
Some believed, though they could not see,
Others rejected, in disbelief they’d flee.
Chorus
So let us heed the words he spoke,
And in our hearts, let the kingdom evoke.
For in the love of our Father above,
We find our peace, our joy, our love.
*Chorus*
The kingdom of God, he came to proclaim,
In the hearts of all, it shall reign.
Not in earthly might or worldly power,
But in righteousness, peace, and eternal shower.
