Our Covenant

The Covenant of the Universal Father

What we call the Covenant of the Universal Father, the Book of Truth (Urantia Book) calls the “Salem Religion” or membership in the “Melchizedek Church.” This is modified by our Covenant Administrator to include necessary verses for the modern age. You can read the basis of the Covenant from the original text at 93:4:1-15 (that is Paper 93, section 4, paragraphs 1 through 15).

1. I believe in the Most High God, the one Universal Father and Creator of all things.

2. I accept this Covenant with the Most High God [El Elyon], which bestows the favour of God on my faith, not on sacrifices and burnt offerings of animals.

3. I promise to obey the Ten Commandments and to tell the Good News of the Book of Truth with the Most High to all peoples as far as I am humanly possible.

4. The Ten Commandments that I promise to obey include:

1) You shall not serve any God but the Most High Creator of heaven and earth, and you shall worship Him without the use of idols.
2) You shall not doubt that faith is the only requirement for eternal salvation.
3) You shall not bear false witness.
4) You shall not murder the living or the unborn.
5) You shall not steal.
6) You shall not commit adultery.
7) You shall not show disrespect for your parents and elders.
8) You shall observe the Sabbath on the seventh day of the week [Saturday] for your entire life. [In addition to Saturday, we observe a non-obligatory Wednesday day of rest as practised by Yeshua.]
9) You shall make an offering of thanksgiving with bread and wine on the evening [Friday] before Sabbath, along with the alms on the first day of the week [Sunday] as you are able.
10) You shall not live a materialistic life, but instead, share with others as you are able.

5. I shall respect the fact that all men, women and children are equal before God and that everyone should be treated as brothers and sisters.

6. I promise to treat everyone with respect regardless of their differences, be it social status, gender, race, colour, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

7. I accept as my spiritual brothers all those who uphold this covenant.

8. I shall forever keep alive on earth the truth of the one God and His Universal Fatherhood and the brotherhood of humanity.

9. I will always uphold the teachings of the Blessed Teacher Yeshua, who is currently present with us, as explained in the Book of Truth, accepting the Book of Truth and the instructions of the Blessed Teacher as my Sacred Scriptures.

10. My signature indicates that I am committed to the teachings of this Covenant and the Book of Truth.
