The Master’s New Revelation

“The great hope of Urantia lies in the possibility of a new revelation of Jesus with a new and enlarged presentation of his saving message which would spiritually unite in loving service the numerous families of his present-day professed followers.” (195:10.16)

The hope expressed in this passage helps us see that the “new revelation” has the power to create spiritual unity among the diverse groups that identify themselves as followers of Jesus on Urantia/Earth. The new revelation of Jesus is the foundation for the dynamic nature of spiritual understanding and the continuous unfolding of divine truths to humanity. Revelations are not static but are instead progressive, adapting to the evolving needs and capacities of individuals and societies. The teaching concerning a new and enlarged presentation of Jesus’ saving message is an acknowledgment of the changing circumstances and consciousness of the world.

The emphasis on spiritual unity through loving service shines light on the essential aspect of practical application of faith. The positive power of a renewed revelation not only concerns intellectual or doctrinal emphasis, but is mostly intended to inspire genuine love and service among those who profess to follow Jesus. This service-oriented unity has the ability to transcend denominational and social boundaries and draws special attention to the universal nature of godly love and its potential to unite humanity in a common purpose.

The Urantia Book, as a whole, is considered by its readers and students to be a form of revelation, providing a comprehensive cosmology, spiritual teachings, and insights into the nature of the Universal Father, the universe, and human existence. However, the specific anticipation of a new revelation of Jesus suggests that there is room for further illumination and expansion of the understanding of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

The Urantia Book, with its comprehensive cosmology and spiritual teachings, encourages its readers to seek deeper spiritual understanding and personal experience with God. The anticipation of a new revelation of Jesus correlates with other themes such as spiritual growth, planetary progression, and the unfolding cosmic plan as presented in the Book. It invites believers to be open to new insights and revelations that may contribute to the ongoing spiritual enlightenment of the inhabitants of Urantia.
