“‘God is love’; therefore his only personal attitude towards the affairs of the universe is always a reaction of divine affection. The Father loves us sufficiently to bestow his life upon us. ‘He makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.'” (2:5.1)
God is a Supreme, Divine Entity of love and His attitude towards everything in the universe is one of affection. The Universal Father’s love is unconditional and He bestows His life upon all of us, regardless of whether we are good or evil. This is demonstrated by the fact that the sun rises and the rain falls upon all of us, regardless of our character or behavior. This does not mean that we are not chastized for wrongdoing. We learn from our experiences, both good and bad, as well as our afflictions. (see 47:8.12)
God’s love is infinite, and He treats all of His creations with equal love and affection. His love is not based on merit or deservingness but rather is a fundamental aspect of His nature. The Father’s love is not limited to just certain individuals or groups but is extended to all of creation. Our Father’s love is not only unconditional but also active and involved in the affairs of the universe. This verse also emphasizes that God’s love is not just a passive feeling or emotion but is demonstrated through action. Let’s think again about the example of the sun and rain. The sun rising and the rain falling are examples of God’s love in action, providing sustenance and nurturing life on earth. This also tells us that God’s love is not just for human beings but extends to all living creatures and the natural world.
In this verse, we have a positive and affirming view of God, emphasizing His love and affection towards all of His creations.
